Happy New Years 2012

We are so excited about our New Years plans this year.
We are getting an opportunity to go to New Orleans to meet up
with my father-in-law.
The kids are super excited and I can not wait to check out the food, architect and of course thrift stores...

I hope to come back with some great memories and some awesome finds.

Hope you have a safe and Happy New Years!

I don't know how this mushroom fits into my New Years post but
I love its simplicity which is what I am looking forward to this
coming 2012.

Family Picture Wall

Like everyone else I have been going crazy with Pinterest.
The fact that you can sit on the computer and feel like you have accomplished something is quiet impressive.  Making to do list left and right.
Well yesterday I started pinning some inspiration for all the family pictures and signs I have around my house that I love but have never felt that I have found the perfect spot for. The one below was my favorite wall I pinned on Pinterest.

This is were we started...
The boys TV room.

I cut Christmas wrapping paper the size of all the pictures and signs that I planned on hanging and pinned them to the wall in a pattern I thought would work well for the room.

One by one the hanging process began.  Lots of measuring and leveling.
This is the end result...
What do you think?

Overall a quick project we tackled.  It was such a big
wall.  Now it has a big statement.

First Day of Fall

First Day of Fall.....
A girlfriend asked me today if I had done any fall decorating yet.
My answer was "No".

I have been spending all my days off at my booth lately.  This morning I was very excited because I made over 20 yards of bunting (pendant garland) for my booth. Went up there today and hung it all up.  Realized I forgot my camera, so I used my phone as last resort.  Well the pictures came out awful!!!
Which leads me to this post instead of the new pictures of my booth.
I broke out the first pumpkin in my house.
Here it is..
Have a wonderful weekend all!!

About an inch and a half

Was browsing the magazines the other day at Hobby Lobby and came across the Green Craft Magazine.
They had used some vintage carpenter rulers to make necklaces.

Well I had just scored some yardstick at a local antique store for a dollar.
So I thought I would give a different twist to the idea.

Each pendant was about an inch and a half.
Lots of necklaces out of 1 yard stick!
Now what to do with all the others I bought.

Hope you enjoy your long holiday weekend.

Fluffing at my booth

I went over to my booth yesterday at the Vintage Flea to fluff.  I had sold a bench which I used to display my stuff on.  Therefore everything that was on it ended up on the floor.  So I brought a table there to display some stuff on.  The pictures are not so great because I forgot my camera and I had to use my phone.  My phone has been dropped multiple times and doesn't take the best pictures anymore. Any way this is what I came up with.

Hope you have a great day!

This is what I have been up to

Back to school is approaching quickly.  Its the sudden panic of lets get everything organized in the house.  Well with that thought you know I have 3 boys.  While they are lucky to each be able to have there same room, we decided to move the twins beds into the same room and use the other room as a toy room.  Giving them that option they jumped on it.  Mostly since every chance they get they will sleep inn each others rooms on the hard floor just to be together. There nursery was in the same room together ,but once they hit about age 3 they would play instead of go to sleep so I separated them for my benefit and it worked out for us all.  It gave them a sense of individuality and me sanity.  Which says a lot.
So where this is all going is.  Moving there beds into the same room meant a few things.  They have never had real bedroom suites.  A lot of mismatched finds.  So in order to create a unity we were on the hunt for matching bedding and matching headboards.

Bedding from IKEA (it comes in red/white and green/white also)

Normally tortuous to my  children   3 boys is having to shop.  Yesterday was different.  We were on the hunt.  We had found matching bedding at IKEA (love that place).  So next was the headboards.  While I love to shop for bargains we headed to our Habitat for Humanities Restore in town.  Looking through all the doors I couldn't find the right one  two. They needed to match remember? We came across the shutters. Which there they were .  Plenty of  wide matching shutters.  A quick call to hubby to get the measurements of a twin and our decision was made.  Two shutters for each headboard at $10 a piece, meant 2 headboards for $40. Not bad.  Ended up even liking the color of them so no painting either.

Still have alot of organizing  to merge and separate the rooms including painting the walls .  Pumpkin color goes great with navy blue but not the look were going for.  I will keep updating.

summer traveling

We have been gone for a week to Orlando.  Yes, my home state of Florida.  The skies are just so beautiful there.  I don't miss the hustle and bustle of  Florida but I do miss the sky.  There is just something different. I don't know if the altitude has something to do with it or what.  The sky is so blue and the clouds are just as fluffy as a big pillow.  With all that being said, we had a 7 hour drive.  Not bad at all. The boys did wonderful there and back.  Well and me, I decided to keep myself busy this trip.  So I brought some projects along for the ride.  Boy it sure made the time fly, probably due to the fact that I was not nagging the driver (hubby) about his driving. Maybe he was flying and I didn't know.  Either way it was a great trip visiting with his family.

Hope to be able to put these in my booth this week some time.

My Favorite Day

I mentioned that we just had a special guest at our home visiting.  Well my friend and her children stopped by for a few days and stayed with us.  We had a great time.  Our children played we talked and talked and talked.  We even got to visit a few thrift stores while she was here.  But, I have to say my favorite day was the day before she had to leave.

We got to go to Scott's Antique Show.
Yay!!!!
I have lived here right at 6 years and had never gone.  It was perfect..
We got up nice and early.  Even after going to bed after 1am the previous night.
Yes, again talking, talking, talking.

Can you say Rust!! Yes it was the best... We saw some awesome stuff.

Even this 750.00 dollar Chicken Coop a sweet girl took our picture in front of.
Oh our husbands were lucky they put us on a budget.
Isn't it cute.

We did however score some deer antlers at a steal of a price.
Yep! First purchase of the day.
 We don't usually bump heads.
Even surprisingly after Amy took one for the team and carried this bad boy through the rest of the building.  Might I add there were plenty of comments on this one.
That chicken feeder proudly stretches the whole length of my dining table now.
With the understanding that the next time I go back I will get her one too.

I have to say it was my favorite day.
Most of all just being together.

blessings,
Kerri
