summer traveling

We have been gone for a week to Orlando.  Yes, my home state of Florida.  The skies are just so beautiful there.  I don't miss the hustle and bustle of  Florida but I do miss the sky.  There is just something different. I don't know if the altitude has something to do with it or what.  The sky is so blue and the clouds are just as fluffy as a big pillow.  With all that being said, we had a 7 hour drive.  Not bad at all. The boys did wonderful there and back.  Well and me, I decided to keep myself busy this trip.  So I brought some projects along for the ride.  Boy it sure made the time fly, probably due to the fact that I was not nagging the driver (hubby) about his driving. Maybe he was flying and I didn't know.  Either way it was a great trip visiting with his family.

My Favorite Day

I mentioned that we just had a special guest at our home visiting.  Well my friend and her children stopped by for a few days and stayed with us.  We had a great time.  Our children played we talked and talked and talked.  We even got to visit a few thrift stores while she was here.  But, I have to say my favorite day was the day before she had to leave.

We got to go to Scott's Antique Show.
Yay!!!!
I have lived here right at 6 years and had never gone.  It was perfect..
We got up nice and early.  Even after going to bed after 1am the previous night.
Yes, again talking, talking, talking.

Can you say Rust!! Yes it was the best... We saw some awesome stuff.

Even this 750.00 dollar Chicken Coop a sweet girl took our picture in front of.
Oh our husbands were lucky they put us on a budget.
Isn't it cute.

We did however score some deer antlers at a steal of a price.
Yep! First purchase of the day.
 We don't usually bump heads.
Even surprisingly after Amy took one for the team and carried this bad boy through the rest of the building.  Might I add there were plenty of comments on this one.
That chicken feeder proudly stretches the whole length of my dining table now.
With the understanding that the next time I go back I will get her one too.

I have to say it was my favorite day.
Most of all just being together.

Loving Gray and Yellow

Summer has got me again.  I am thinking back to one of my 1st post was about yellow too.  I must say I don't have yellow in my house but I always seem to come back to it.
I love the yellow and gray combination.

I think I will have to change that soon.

In the mean time I will just keep dreaming.

Love this chandelier inside a drum shade

This shower curtain and vintage look has my heart

These lamps are amazing

Love this chandelier

Love the sliding barn door.

LOVE

Makes me want to have a party.
Still loving the ruffles.
I love this combo

Even if your having a gray day
just add a little yellow to it and it can be sunny.

Sewing again

I had taken a break from blogging and sewing....
I got out my sewing machine yesterday and I can't stop, the wheels keep turning.

Along with the ruffled lampshade and pillow I made yesterday, I also made a few pillows for a friend of mine out of some napkins she got from the Pottery Barn Outlet.  I should have taken a picture but I was so excited to get them to her I forgot.  I will never look at another napkin the same way again.

So this morning I continued with the ruffle theme and came up with these bags. Again no measuring involved.

This one is small and would be great to bring to the beach
and collect sea shells in it

The one above is large and I think it
would be great to sling over your shoulder.

This was a cute summer bag that I embellished
with some fabric
and a button.

Here is a close up...

This is also a premade canvas tote I embellished again with
a ruffle and rosette.

Well need to get some work around here done since
my sewing machine has been getting all of my attention.

Have a great day!

Kerri

Ruffles

We had special guest this week.  It got me looking around at my guest room and thought I need to finish some of those projects that I have been saying I'm going to do.  So as you can see I had a lamp in the room that I found at Goodwill in Smyrna and had put an old shade that must have been in one of my children's room at one time (I'm pretty sure I didn't draw the pumpkin face on the lamp shade).

I found some white material in my craft room and started ripping strips of fabric.  Just stitched the edge gathering the material as I went. When you rip fabric its amazing no measuring is necessary. he he..
I did not hem any of the ruffles. The material was so nice I just left it raw at the ends and I love the how it came out.
A little glue gun.

I got so excited with the way it turned out I decided to make a matching pillow for the bed too. Again, no measuring involved.
I plan on moving a chandelier into that room too. I will update with more pictures after.
Hope you have a great day!

Blessings,
Kerri
